- The current research on skills (including the use of language) investigates the information processing involved with the inner mechanism of skills in vertebrates. It tests hypotheses about the nature of the algorithms and the interfaces with perception (input) and action (output to motor control). While basically similar to artificial intelligence, it tries to make the theories and models compatible with findings in neuroscience, genomics, and evolution. The research is presented in terms of theory, experimentation with simulation models, and meta-theoretical discussion of the goals and the research paradigm.
